On several occasions I have been lucky enough to try and write about some of Shiri Zinn’s designs (you can read them here), and I honestly thought that I would not have the opportunity to do it again, but a few months ago she wrote to ask me if I wanted to collaborate and write a review on one of her most emblematic pieces: the strap-on with a ceramic dildo from her new Tribal BDSM collection.

Tribal BDSM Set

This strap-on or harness is part of the Tribal BDSM collection, which includes a 21 piece series of accessories with a clear African reference, among which you can find gags, paddles, masks, chokers with leads and chains, a spreader bar and elegant ankle cuffs that you can purchase together or separately.

Access the designer’s website www.ShiriZinn.com and choose between the four available colours: Blue, red, black or gold single couture pieces or colour sets.

Packaging

This time there is no packaging as such.  However I want to highlight, given the delicacy of the products, how well protected both the harness and ceramic dildo came to me.

The two pieces that make up the harness (front and back) came inside a kind of rather hard folder in the same blue colour as the product.  The folder was closed with a golden ribbon and, in turn, wrapped in a large layer of foam.

The ceramic dildo arrived wrapped in thick bubble wrap and sealed plastic, so that it was almost impossible for it to arrive broken. (We know that shipping companies are not always very careful about many “fragile” stickers on packaging!)

BDSM Tribal Strap-on

The harness is composed of two parts made of turquoise blue real lambskin leather that are joined by metal D-rings. The touch is really soft and as it is formed simply by two light-weight leather panels sewn together, it makes it much lighter and allows it to adapt and mould perfectly to your body.

The ceramic dildo is secured by a metal ring that you can replace with another of variable size of your choice should you want to replace the dildo with another model.

It will be when you discover the garment’s back that you will really fall in love with this design, thanks to the colorful geometric tassel decoration in ethnic style handcrafted from fine glass beads that really give meaning to the name of this collection. Once you put the harness on, some of these beaded tassels will rest on your butt and collide with it, with each thrust! Could there be a sexier and more erotic attention to detail?

The main problem that many women find when it comes to getting a harness is usually the issue of size. Brands usually sell a one-size-fits-all size that does not always adapt to your measurements. Shiri Zinn has thought about this problem by designing harnesses that, despite being one size, are really adaptable to women of all body shapes; both hip and thighs.

Ornate Ceramic dildo

The design of the harness is so impressive that any simple dildo of any common material would have been more than enough. But Shiri Zinn is anything but conformist, and so she has created another gem; a fantastic ceramic dildo to complete this set.

Surely now you will have a WTF face! A ceramic dildo? What if it breaks while I’m using it? Or, will a hard dildo be pleasant? Well yes, ceramic dildos have been around for a long time. What’s more; Shiri Zinn has some dildos made of glass and quartz crystal stone, and I assure you that they can be as much or more pleasant than silicone ones.

This particular ceramic dildo is handcrafted from the finest English ceramics. It is slightly curved to promote penetration and stimulation. The high gloss enamel is in a single color (there are several to choose from to match the harnesses in black, teal or deep red), but all models have the same floral decoration with a real 9 carrat gold motif. The length is over 5 inches insertable and 6 inches in total, with a diameter of 3.5cm at the widest part

The fact it’s ceramic not only makes it more aesthetic and exclusive in appeal, but completely ecological and more hygienic as it’s a non-porous and bio-degradable material.

Yes, surely what worries you the most is safety when using it? It is clear that ceramic can break, but unless the dildo receives a strong impact it will not break inside, even with very hard thrusting. Simply be responsible when using it, store it carefully, and you will not have any problem.

As to whether or not it is pleasant, I can contribute little here since we enter a very personal terrain. In any case, I think that dildos made of natural materials such as stone or glass, among others, have been used all our lives. What is certain is that the rigidity of these materials provide extra stimulation you will not experience with toys made of more common, softer materials like silicone. 

Recommendations

Unlike the toys we are more used to seeing such as silicone, those made of natural materials can be used with any type of lubricant: water-based, silicone or oil. Also, if you want to add an extra touch you can place the ceramic dildo under hot or cold water and this will change its temperature in a few minutes for you to create each experience as unique and different.

When it comes to washing it, the guidelines are the same as for any other material: soap and water, and keep it dry. I always recommend that you keep it in its own box or in a bag or cover, and in this case it would be best to keep the bubble wrap in which you received it. Of course, you also have the option of displaying it on your best shelf like any other porcelain sculpture from the Ming Dynasty, since it doubles as an art piece!

Always evaluate the condition of the dildo before use, and in case you find any cracks or flaking avoid using it (though you will always have a beautiful piece of decoration if you damage it slightly).

• As they are delicate materials, you must be more careful when conserving it.
